Question: How would you define choice?
Answer: Choice is a perfectly balanced, neutral state in between two opposite options, that are equally attractive/rejecting, without any bias, without any underlying motif pulling or pushing one towards either side. Only in such a “virtual”, fragile, independent point does one have a true, free choice.
By default we do not have any choices as we are born with an inherently selfish, egoistic and subjective nature. This means that in any given situation we choose the option that serves our own self-interest, that fulfills our own needs, that provides us with pleasures and distances us from pain.
In order to acquire true free choice we have to develop, obtain a “second nature”, a new intention that is aimed solely at the fulfillment, benefit of others without any interest, reward or even positive feedback for myself. When the two different inclinations, intentions are perfectly poised, that is when our ability to choose freely starts.
