Answer: Probably we equate the “present” with a temporary comfort zone, where we can rest, hide.
Going back into the past or preparing for the future imbalances is.
Regarding the past immediate regret, uncertainty comes in, all the questions of “what if” start gnawing at our mind…
In relation to the future it is even worse, especially in our generation. We have lost sight of any true, proper, Human goals, purposes. Thus any thought about the future causes fear, anxiety.
We won’t be able to solve this until we start researching reality, the true meaning of life, and our Human purpose in existence in a much greater depth, detail. Then will regain our confidence in the future, and will also understand that everything in the past was purposefully helping us towards our final, perfect goal.
