Instinctively Protecting Our Honor

Question: If someone has the wrong idea about you, and there’s nothing you can do about it, how do you let it go? Why is it so hard when someone believes a bad, but untrue thing about us? Why do we care so much?

Answer: We care so much because we are all born with an inherently self-centered, self-justifying, egoistic nature. Our self-esteem is the most important for us, thus we can’t tolerate when others say bad things about us.

If we do not receive appreciation, respect from others we are humiliated, crushed. As we see in may examples in this world people are willing to sacrifice even their physical life in order to protect their honor, self-esteem, respect.

It is for the same reason that we enjoy, we actively try to crush the respect, standing of others, so we can see, hold ourselves above them. Today when our ego has reached its maximum potential we see all these things in open display without any makeup, deceptive cover.
