The Wisdom To Receive Infinitely

Question: How can someone find balance between the desire to enjoy the world and the desire to improve himself?

Answer: We can do that by merging the two seemingly separate things you mentioned. Today we think we are “enjoying the world” by chasing and fulfilling the instinctive, animate (food, sex, family) and social (wealth, power/fame, knowledge) desires that randomly appear in us. But while we remain on this instinctive level the actual pleasures we receive are minuscule compared to the pleasures we are supposed to receive. At the same time we remain with a “shameful” regret that instead of those pleasures we should improve ourselves, become “better people”.

We need to learn how to receive pleasures correctly and for that we have to go through a “self-improvement” program, changing our intention, our attitude towards others and the world. As soon as we upgraded our inherently self-serving, self-justifying, egoistic qualities, intentions to selfless, unconditionally serving, loving qualities, intentions in a unique Human environment, we become ready and capable to accept, receive the infinite pleasures that surround us.
