Question: If you had a chance to go back in the past, what era would you choose?
Answer: Being Jewish – and also preparing for Passover – I am a bit biased, but I would go back to the era when the Hebrew slaves left Egypt, wandered in the desert with Moses and then became a Nation on the merit of building a unity of “one man with one heart” despite finding themselves at the foot of the Mountain of Hate (Sinai), meaning despite sensing instinctive, “baseless hatred” against one another.
It is for this “supernatural” – above the instinctive, egoistic, hateful nature – unity, mutual guarantee that they needed the unique guidance of the Torah.
I would like to experience this unique state first hand, as today the whole of Humanity needs this “supernatural” unity, mutual cooperation for survival in a globally integrated, interdependent world.
