Question: Do you think we are all addicted to something in one way or another?
Answer: Yes we all an “addictive personality”. We are all born with an inherently egocentric, self-serving, self-justifying, greedy, individualistic nature that is driven by an exponentially growing desire for pleasures.
Our whole life is about searching for more, greater, spicier, increasingly twisted pleasures, so we can fulfill this growing hunger. On the outside this can express itself in very different forms, showing signs of different “addictions”: to the more obvious substances of alcohol, drugs, gambling, sex or to the more subtle ones like work, wealth, power, fitness, eating, video-games, different “hobbies”, etc…
In order to truly cure addiction – which affects all of us – first we need to understand, accept our inherent nature, and then start using the right, educational method that can upgrade us in unique, purposeful, mutually supportive, mutually complementing environments.
