John Lennon’s Dream
John Lennon’s song “Imagine” – that is frequently voted as the most beautiful song ever written – could be the manifesto for modern liberalism.
It is dreaming about a perfect world without borders, without differences, without religion, wars or exploitation, where similar, like minded people live in peace in brotherhood.
It – and liberalism – suggests that we just need to imagine and really want this perfection…and then it will happen.
Incompatible Nature
The problem is that in the real world it won’t “just” happen, and in truth we don’t even want it to happen, we can’t. Such a perfect world in brotherhood is actually against our inherent human nature.
And now as this utopia is turning into a nightmare, as it is impossible to erase inherent individual and national identities, liberalism is turning into one of the most dogmatic, hateful movement, trying to censor, erase, destroy anibody who dares to point out its obvious failure.
Similarly most of the religious figureheads of our time declare their hopes for a better world, as the “good in Humanity” will overcome the “evil”. Unfortunately they either don’t know inherent human nature or choose to ignore it. There is nothing good in us.
Evolutionary Human “Mutation”
The Wisdom of Kabbalah often uses a famous quote “attributed to the Creator (force of nature)”, “…I have created the evil inclination, and I have created the Torah (User’s Guide To Reality, written in a symbolic, poetic language) as spice, as the Light (nature’s force of evolution) in it reforms…”
To make it less “mystical” evolution purposefully separated Human beings from the animal kingdom by the ruthless, self-serving, self-justifying and hateful ego.
It was necessary to bring forth a conscious, independent creature that is capable of viewing, researching the otherwise perfect, integrated and “unconscious” system. This prepares Humanity for its evolutionary role: to attain Nature’s perfection through free choice, by conscious self-correction, adaptation to the system.
Costly Experiments
Thus by default we only have this hateful ego driving us, fueling our exclusive competition, success at the expense of one another. So while theoretically we agree that peace, brotherhood, equality is good, when it comes to practical implementation – including self-annulment, giving up what we have for the sake of others – we reject it vehemently.
Communism – the direct misguided implementation of Marx’s theoretical system, philosophy without changing human nature first – is the most obvious recent disastrous example of trying to change human society external, without taking into consideration our nature.
Education Before Implementing John Lennon’s Dream
Thus imagining a perfect world, perfect human society is not enough. Trying to build a corrected human society without upgrading human nature first leads to catastrophe, bloodshed.
True unity will come only when we learn how to connect to each other above instinctive differences (that will never disappear), despite the instinctive mutual rejection, distrust (which will always remain).
This is why before we “imagine”, change anything we need a unique, practical and purposeful educational method that prepares, upgrades human beings, our nature so we can want and practically build what John Lennon was singing about, above ourselves.
So we have to rise above instinctive “self-love” and acquire the “love of others” according to the Torah’s primary principle, “love your friend as yourself”.
