Question: Do millionaires feel poor when they are next to billionaires?
Answer: Yes, and this is very important! Whether we feel rich or poor doesn’t depends on what we have. It depends on how we compare to others!
This comes from our inherently proud, self-justifying nature that ceaselessly tries to elevate the self-esteem, trying to raise the person above others in any given circumstances.
And since our present society is built on monetary measurements, measuring wealth, growth, zeros in bank accounts, if I have less zeros then I feel poor even if I have more money I can ever spend.
We can’t change, suppress or delete our inherent nature. But in the right environment, by changing our values, goals we can start to use our instinctive envy, jealousy, yearning for more, positively and purposefully for the right goal.
