Question: How much sacrifice do we need in our life?
Answer: I do not know how to quantify it, but the bottom line is that we need to sacrifice our “self” to live.
Since we are all born with an inherently self-serving, self-justifying, egocentric and subjective nature, with the “EGO” that distorts, corrupts everything we touch, causing all the individual and collective problems we encounter in life, only by annulling ourselves completely towards others can we overcome those problems and rise to a qualitatively much higher, collective Human existence.
We have to imagine ourselves as single cell, cancer-like organisms that survive in a ruthlessly, exclusively competitive manner, succeeding at the expense of one another.
As it happened before evolution when multi-cellular organisms formed in order to secure a more predictable, sustainable survival, Humanity has to go through the same process.
We also have the evolutionary need to form a single, fully integrated Human “super-organism” above, against our egoistic tendencies. But we have received the chance to do this proactively, consciously, instead of waiting for Nature’s system to put such pressure on us – by intolerable suffering, unimaginable catastrophes – that we will have to do the developmental step in the lack of any other choice, out of pain.
We already have the clear recognition that the root cause of all our problems is the inherent ego, and we also have a unique, purposeful, practical educational method that can help us in the necessary fundamental self-change without coercion, using understanding and positive motivation.
This is our free choice, to make the necessary “self-sacrifice” proactively, turning the process into an interesting adventure instead of waiting for the “path of suffering”.
